Keeping back seats in place

The leather straps/snaps to hold the rear seats in place are gone off my '81 SC. Any recommendations on how to hold back seats in upright position (so they don't fall down every time I put on the brakes)??

Thanks

Here's and inexpensive solution that I went with. Get a hold of a leather belt (preferably and on old used one in your closet) the same color and size. Cut it too length. Goto the hardware store (OSH or Home Depot) and pick up a button installation kit. It will have serveral sizes along with a punch/anvil. Find the correct mating snap in the kit that corresponds to the one in your car. Follow the instructions, install using the original screw and you are good to go. When I get home tonight I will try to post up some pictures. Easy to do, looks close to OEM, gets the job done, have a beer, sit back and admire your craftmenship/macgiverism.

Actually, I kinda like the startling THWACK of the seat backs as they fall down. YMMV!

Check with appbiz on this board. He produces the straps and can supply the mounting snaps as well. I bought a set from him and was pleased. See, e.g., Rear Seat Backs - Please Excuse An Elementary Question

One more question, on my SC I can't find the obvious place on the back to snap the strap to. Probably removed at some point before it came to me. There are some screws in the back panel to hold it in place, but no snaps. Are these screw locations likely where the mating snap goes?

Thanks

There should be a snap on the back panel
