My Ruf 3600S Xenons don't move with the suspension; nor do my Prius'. For my wife's '86 944, I bought H4s and then installed these DDM 35W & 55W Slim Ballast HID Kit: DDM Tuning - HID Kits, HID Bulbs, DEPO Lighting, BMW and Porsche Performance Accessories It works really well and doesn't blind people. Maybe I'm just lucky.

This is a requirement for ROW cars, but not for American ones. Our Ford Flex has xenons that don't self adjust. My Carrera does.

Just because the capsule is in the same place as the bulb it replaced doesn't mean the light is emitted in the same way as it was with the halogen filament. Here's a good explanation as to why: Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

Banned but not out, yet..

If you are after 'the look' of xeons (mostly seen aftermarket on Civics and Accurasm versus vintage p-cars) rather than the performance of upgraded bulbs and wiring, then go with them. If you are after xeon appearing Hella bulbs with some good punch 80/100W, check out these, but you will need to upgrade your wiring/relays/etc - Optilux XP Xenon Bulbs H4 80/100W At least if you go with the Hella look like bulbs, you will get a good quality bulb with great lighting and you won't blind and annoy every oncoming driver - including the officer who will eventually provide you with a 'fix-it' ticket - and then you lose your entire investment. - I was not happy with 55/60 watt bulbs and upgraded everything to accommodate Hella 100/140 W. The sharp cut-offs don't blind oncoming drivers, and they throw more than enough light - add some driving lights if you need even more.

Cheap!
Just had a look at the E Bay add and at GBP 79.00 they're cheap.
A few years ago they were more like GBP 300.00... I've seen them on a local 964. The owner tells me they're great but I haven't driven that car. I know some people have chimed in with all of the reasons not to do this but this is becoming common on a lot of cars locally. The Police don't like bluish lights so most locals go with the whiter (lower intensity) version and seem to get by just fine. Just for the record... I find it annoying when an on coming BMW, Mercedes or whatever has HID lights. Even though these are OEM they're still annoying to me. Now I know how drivers felt in the 70s when Halogen lights were first introduced.

The whiter ones actually output more light, according to the tech specs given by most sellers. I imagine the cops give a pass on the whiter ones not because they put out less light, but because the blue ones are so easy to spot as illegal.
I've seen plenty of thes and they annoy me in white or blue or purple or.... On mine, I adjusted the height when the tank was empty, with just me in the car, so the cutoff wouldn't annoy oncoming traffic. Empty tank and only me is the worse case scenario for the cars attitude. Speedracerindy, sorry I missed your request for pics. I like the ones done by Singer. On mine, i just got the 911 back in my shop so I will be dorking with things. Functionally, they rock. I want to improve the cosmetics. here's some pics, (BTW, I heard you did a gauge lighting project with EL wire, can you link that thread? Thanks() On, obviously ![]() Drivers side 'raw", no interior reflector/cosmetics. I went with the HID projector above a set of fogs to fill the vast area that was available. Further, the flens on the pass side has been given an obscuring frost. ![]() ![]()

Can you give detail comparison between your wife's HID vs it's stock H4. And the wife's HID vs the real stock HID?

What did you use on the right headlight ? It looks like you have a shroud in it.
I love the light I have now on my 71. Cheers

Not HID, but I installed these LEDs in mine (H4 housings) and so far I'm very happy with them.
3800 Lumen H4 LED Headlight bulb I've gone through the effort of having my wife and a couple of other family members evaluate them as she drives in the opposite direction of me in the 911 and none thought they were obnoxious.
