What's up with these cylinders? (X-post from engine rebuild forum)

Are these for real? These are supposed to be for a 3.2 and the seller said they could be RS or RSR cylinders, but he wasn't certain. Am I an idiot or have the cooling fins with the head stud thru holes been machined off one side of each one? What are they and why would someone do that?

Those are 3.3 turbo cylinders, 98mm
