Only temporary guys..........
Don't get upset. I found our former '83 Schirocco VW hood emblem during my annual garage cleanout. So what are the P-Member's thoughts on the Porsche/VW acquisition? A great editorial was published on page 133 of the October '09 Excellence Magazine.

We can have opinions about it but the fact is it is a done deal. They will not listen to our opinions at all.

I think we should wait and see. some of porsche's best work was done for other fims in the form of consultancy work.
they can return to making sports cars solely, instead of trying to badge egineer SUV's and sedans

Wait and see... should be interesting. After all, the Chairman of VW's Supervisory Board, Ferdinand Piech, has a remarkable history having presided over some of the greatest sports and racing cars of all time, including the Porsche 917.
My prediction is that Porsche (as a unit of VW) will eventually lose its title as the brand with the biggest profit margins in the car industry. However, I also think in a few years time that cars with the Porsche emblem could become much more interesting to sports and racing enthusiasts. ![]() From Wikipedia: After making mainly small 2000 cc race cars that were supposed to be closely related to road cars, Porsche made a risky investment by unexpectedly building twenty-five 5000 cc Porsche 917, surprising the rule makers at the FIA. Even Ferrari had needed to sell his company to Fiat before making such a move. Always thinking big, Piëch started development of a 16-cylinder engine for the Can-Am series. It is probably no coincidence that his grandfather had developed a famous supercharged 16-cylinder engine for the Auto Union racing cars in the 1930s. Piëch was denied the chance to complete it, as a turbocharged version of the existing 12-cylinder was simpler, more powerful and very successful. Three decades later as CEO of Volkswagen Group, Piëch insisted on the very ambitious Bugatti Veyron, with a turbocharged W16-cylinder, 987 horsepower (736 kW) and 407 km/h (253 mph) top speed. These figures are higher than those of the Porsche 917, and most current racing cars. Markus '80 SC Targa |

Is there really anyone out there who misses the Weinie King ?
Michael Macht is the new CEO, a 19 year Porsche employee, an engineer by trade, and board member for production and logistics since 1998. ''It is rediculous to suggest that when we want to make a new model we have to ask Dr Winterkom ( VW ). What cars Porsche makes will be decided by the board of Porsche.'' ''You have to remember that Porsche SE still holds 51 % of Volkswagon AG, so with the merger the families of Porsche and Piech will have the majority holding. Whatever that integrated company will be called in the future, be it Porsche VW, VW Porsche, or anything else, Porsche will have it's independance.'' -Michael Macht |

It depends on how bad the feud was between the Piech and Porsche families if my reading was correct the bad blood runs deep and rumors were that Porsche tried to aquire VW to ruin it the same may be the verse.
As for it being a good year YES it was I got my car running after nearly 3 years and it is boosted, CIS and CDI free (Bitz EFI and megasquirt controlled EDIS).

I don't think it's going to change much..Porsche as solely a sports car company ended a long time ago when the last air-cooled rolled out of Stuttgart. I know the new models have more hp and tech in it but sad to say lost it's soul. As a car company under VW it will continue to mass produce cars and that being said built quality goes down as we've seen with the introduction of the 996.
