				Shift rod coupling/help
			 
			
			I have a 1985 911 euro, and I just changed out my shift rod coupling and under the stick shift the piece that the ball rides in and a plastic colar, the only reason I changed theses parts out was because the car was not shifting smoothly, well it turns out the bushing under the shift rod was broken, now everthing is back togeather and when i drove the car I have to rev up the car, in order for it to take off in first gear, once it gets going it drives great and shifts fine, but getting the car to actually take off in first is my problem. The car shifted fine before I changed out theses parts, and the clutch was fine to. It's like as I am letting up the clutch I have to give it a lot of gas to get going, Help!!!

			Is it possible you didn't get the alignment/adjustment of the coupling right when you installed the new one and are actually starting off in 3rd gear due to the mis-alignment? Check that first. Les

			In order to align the coupler properly, make sure the transmission is in 1st gear, then put the shifter in the first gear position (as far up and to the left as possible), then tighten everything back up.  That should solve the issue.

					Pelican Technical Article: 911 Shifting Improvements I had to do 2 iterations to get it perfect, but after the bushing replacement and adjustment the shifting was much better in all gears.
