Removing temp sensor on 85?
This little puppy does not want to come out. Looks like someone has already chipped a fin below trying. Does the black connector unplug? Do they usually get this tight? I am going to remove the tin and try again. Any suggestions. thanks Doug

I was just trying to figure this out myself yesterday....
Spanners are to big, needle nose plyers can't get enough grip. (that sucker is screwed in good and tight!!) I think I am going to adapt a spanner (the "ring" type) so that I can get it over the wire. All I need to do is make a gap in the ring portion of the spanner so the wire can get in. (sorta like a crow's foor spanner)

If you're replacing the sensor, just cut the wire off and use a good 6-point deepwell socket. I modified a SnapOn 14mm deep well by cutting a thin slot up the side for te wire to poke out of when installing. (I first modified a cheaper Craftsman socket but it flexed tto mucy trying to get the sensor out.) My feeling though is that this is a weak link in our cars and should always be replaced whenever the engine is out since it's a bear to get out with the engine installed.
