Mfi shutoff solenoid questions
My 1973 911T Porsche has mechanical injection problems that I have been sorting through.
A Porsche article says to test the shut off solenoid by energizing it to see if it clicks. My solenoid terminal is grounded so I think it would blow a fuse. Does anyone know about how this item works? Thank you. |

Leo,
The solenoid is very high current and has quite an inductive ‘kick’. You may be mistaking that for a shorted solenoid. Use a 6” length of 22 Ga wire as a ‘fuse’ and test the solenoid function again. If it is truly shorted, you will burn up the little wire and insulation in about four seconds.... Best, Grady

the spade terminal on the solenoid is the 12V input, if yours is grounded you've got it wired backwards. the solenoid is grounded thru the pump. if it doesn't work at first, hit it a few times.
ps. to Grady. the MFI project end is in sight. |
