Keep my guard up or, do I need a new wrench?

Semi technical scenario I want to post (vent) here instead of general topics because I have a question in here somewhere.

I've been slowly working little projects and finally got around to pulling the injectors for some long overdue attention - As I was doing this I noticed what looks like one of the A/C compressor bolts (and washer) lying on top of the right side engine tin.

I got over my surprise, but then I found the connector hose bracket (oil breather?) unscrewed from the rear of the Air filter box, and another hose removed from the air box itself - minor stuff - but this was all connected last year when I had the intake out to work on the fuel lines, crankcase breather gasket, oil temp switch, etc.

working on the drivers side (still on the injectors), I come to find out that the fuel pressure regulator bracket is missing the 2 bolts to the intake manifold. Pissed now, I get the inspection mirror out and find the air valve line removed from the thermo switch.

The last time she saw a pro wrench was 6 mos ago for state inspection and a valve adjustment (yeah I know, I could do that myself, but she was in there).
The question I have is why would this stuff be undone? (I take pics of all my own work) Could it have been undone to make a valve adjustment easier - and then they got lazy? it boggles - and the trust is gone.

I feel your pain.

1st time I picked up my 930 from a visit to the local pro the oil line from the turbo scavenge pump sprang a huge leak on the way home. The shop had replaced the oil line from the pump to the tank and only hand tightened the fitting.

A few tanks of gas later, the tranny the pro had just rebuilt grenaded. Good news is that it was redone at no labor cost to me. The day the tranny grenaded, I also noticed that on one side of the car the 7" wide front wheel was mounted to the rear and the 8" wide rear wheel was mounted to the front.

Over one year later, my car stopped running during a track day at Carolina Motorsports park. Turned out to be a massive vacuum leak eventually traced to this:

This little screw wrapped in duct tape was what the pro used to plug the hole in the intake manifold that was left open when they removed the EGR system. It held there for a year and a few thousand miles, but unsurprisingly fell out...unfortunately when I was 1000 miles from home.

Get a new mechanic, both of you.

I would make him eat that bolt with the duct tape, and then make him apologize to my car.
Your cars deserve better mechanics than that.

Not to worry, my car will NOT be returning to this particular shop. The "pro" experience has simply strengthened my resolve to DIY on this car.

Engine rebuild currently in process...so far, so good.

All good - thanks guys, and nice work Jacob. I wanted to save some dough, have fun with the projects, and use the "pro" as a safety net - not this guy anymore. Debated calling and ranting, but eff'im.
