RS Carpet Kit for 73 Project: Perlon Felt or Plush

Hi all,

I'm looking to swap out the current brown carpet in my 73 Coupe for an RS style kit, possibly charcoal but preferably black. Before I order, I'd like to see if anyone can share pics of both the Perlon Felt and Plush weaves so I can make the right decision.

Thanks!
Chris

I have apbiz RS Carpet in mine....I went with the plush. I was told it will hold up up better and was easier to work with than the perlon. If weight is not a major concern I suggest going with the plush....its not really plush....just a little heavier grade than perlon. If you do a search of some of my posts you will see couple interior shots the latest post (yet another rendition begins) has some if I remember correctly and it is on the board now.

I went with plush in my SC. Gives a deeper black in my opinion. Perlon black looks like a dark grey to my eyes.

Perlon is what the original RS used, it looks and feels like felt, your original truck carpet was probably Perlon.

plush is more like the Sliverknit used in the later cars.

which to use depends on what you want to accomplish and your taste, the weight difference between them isn't all that much

Thanks, everyone.

Bill, my default was to consider Perlon for the reasons you mentioned. What I couldn't tell (from Appbiz/others) is if "plush" looks like the later style carpet, which I don't prefer.

Hi,
Reviving old thread ....

Can someone tell me what is the difference between normal style carpet and RS type carpet ?

Is the fitting/pieces same?
I need to replace carpet in 83 SC Cabrio and need to decide which to get.

Thanks

Stan

That does not look like an original carpet for an RS. They either came with salt and pepper velours or the black perlon.
That doesn't even look like the correct salt and pepper velours used on touring models.
