Post hesitation problem

i am in the process of sorting out my newly acquired '73 911E. i noticed the plugs were very sooty looking. they were a strange bosch plug, so i changed them to the NGK recommended plug. while changing the plugs, i noticed the hose from the driver's side heat exchanger to the MFI thermostat unit was torn. i fixed this and hope it will help with my rich running condition.

now, i'm trying to review my next steps in analyzing the my hesitation/slight miss problem. it happens upon initial acceleration and in the 2000 - 3000 RPM range. i figure i'll do ignition first, then valve adjustment next, THEN consider MFI.

any recommendations? points first? cap and rotor? plug wires? CDI ? coil? valves first?

as with my previous posts, feedback is much appreciated !

On any car I get I always change the plugs, points, condensor(if there is one), rotor, dist. cap, and plug wires. Then you have a baseline to work from. On your car I would also check the valves, again to have a baseline. But, before you do any of that, READ THIS ARTICLE!!!!!! http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_MFI/TipMFI.htm

i think you're right to do it all and get a baseline. i will try that over the next few weekends and go from there.

thanks for your suggestion.
