What a great resource...I just read through the entire thread and learned a ton.
Happy New Year to all my Pelican brothers and sisters! |
I bought a new 1982 US-spec SC, ordered from an Ohio dealer, chose options, did euro delivery, picked it up at the factory. Here are some pics from 1982 showing the tea tray spoiler and the order info for the car.

Looking to identify this repo tail,so I can correctly advertise it. My guess is non turbo early carrera or small whale tail.
It's going to Hershey next week for the chocolate swap.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1523848204.jpg |

I have a good but not great condition OEM tea tray tail from an '82 SC (rubber somewhat warped). From a previous owner so I don't know if it was factory, dealer or whatever, but it's Porsche stamped on the rubber and the fiberglass.
Bit of a warp to the rear of the rubber, not sure if that can be repaired. Photos available. |
Anyone have a 1974 Carrera Duck Tail?
|
Carrera Tail
I do have an original tail that came with my Carrera 3.0. The previous owner ordered the tail as extra part. So I got the car with two tails and now I decided to let this one go. I have the car for a few years now but never installed the tail.
I know these things cost some money and I am open to reasonable offers. Here are the pictures of the tail. Rubber is in perfect condition, soft, no dry areas, no tears, scars or whatever. Tail is in fantastic condition but needs some love. The metal part that contains the serial number has some rust that could be addressed in the future. A little bit of rust in other parts of the inner frame. As far as I know, the tail has the original paint, it's Porsche paint code 936. There is another metal shield that came with the tail. Open to reasonable offers (I know what these things are worth). Plus shipping and PayPal fees based on actual cost. Thanks :-) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1563897403.JPG |

Thanks for an extremely informative discussion.
I just purchased a spoiler without viewing it and received it this evening. Was a little disappointed that it is a replica as the base was not metal. However, after reading this post, seems that it may be part of a batch made in 1974. In any case if it is a replica it is a pretty good one and better than the having the 3.3 spoiler on my 3.0 Turbo, so it is going on anyway. Any conclusion on whether these were ever fitted to 930's? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1565380186.jpg |
