Pictures would help, as would a better description of the condition. For example, does it have the rubber surround? How nice is that part? Does it have a rear wiper assembly, or any other parts?

It has/ includes a good rubber lip ( dry from extended inside storage but no sign of swelling where the studs are , no tears,, and a good grill. Add Has a stick on Carrera emblem(should probably be pin type). No undertray,no wiper holes. painted GP white Only damage is a cluster of small holes drilled thru under the top above the emblem , below the wing .not visible unless you bend down and look up. looks like someone modified it to admit air to something. Frame is solidly attached , no visable rust, threads good in holes examined. Misplaced my camera ,took cellphone pics today but have never used a cellphone camera before so working on downloading them. |
Time for a bump for this excellent thread…
I finally located the Porsche part number on my 1975 Porsche 930 tail – 930 512 010 00. The tail is made of fiberglass and steel that was used on all 3-liter 930’s. The slightly golden shade is just the natural aging for the original silver paint on the inside of the tail. For reference, my car rolled off the assembly line in April 1975 and the tail is original to the car (non-optioned A/C from the factory). Was 930.512.010.00 only used for ’75 930s? Do all the tails with this part number lack the inside indentation where the wiper motor attaches? Additionally, has there been any further documentation for the medium-sized larger secondary grill for the non-optioned air conditioning RoW 930’s? Do we have any non-optioned A/C ’77 RoW tails documented (please post photos if you have an example)? http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...-160-tail1.jpg http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/p...-160-tail2.jpg |

I thought for a long time that this whale tail was an after marker item. From several treads on this formum I have since located part numbers. The car is a 1980 911sc purchased in Europe. I think I am the third owner. Still looking for the small grill as the one that is in there is not correct. |
Where????

New Porsche Parts, Porsche Restoration, Used Porsche Parts, Rebuilt Porsche Parts, Porsche Service, Porsche Repair, Porsche Custom Fabrication, Porsche Accessories It won't be in their on-line catalog but they have a bunch of used and NOS stuff that is not listed. Good luck. |
How about some better pictures of this tail? Rubber doesn't look usual but not sure what it is.

Here is a new one. This was the only stamp found- no numbers on a 75 Carrera tail. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401772960.jpg

Whale tail rubber
I am reposting this thread from another location on the forum. I have lost that location but here is a statement from one of the forum participants concerning the different rubber on the whale tail of my car.
John, I'm glad you finally posted pictures of the tail, as it is quite unique, and one that has never been documented in any books or magazine that I have seen! It has the 'main body' structure of the '76-'77 Turbo tail, but the rubber is more blunt ... I presume to meet German govt. restrictions when appendages started appearing on 911s in the mid '70s. Reports of the RS 3.0 being shipped with two tails, one specific for German consumption -- and the other to satisfy esthetics and aerodynamic wishes of the engineers ... surfaced in October 1974 when Paul Frere wrote in Road & Track about the overpriced $25K wonder! But, pictures of the 'ugly tail,' pedestrian-friendly variant NEVER SURFACED!!! I guess I understand why, now! I guess I just never understood why some govt. beaurocrats became fixated on hood ornaments and tails as dangers to pedestrians ... when it was the mass of the object carrying them that kills pedestrians when struck, not how sharp or pointed various trim items might be! Perhaps Roland can enlighten us about the 'ugly tail?' Sorry, but I don't think that tail has much value, except as documentation of German Govt. beaurocratic excesses via meaningless regs! |
It looks like somebody has installed a 3.3 turbo tail rubber onto a 3.0 turbo tail.

I have been looking at these for some time, as I am in the market for a 3Lt deck for my 76 930. Looks to me like a tea tray rubber on an early lid? I have seen this in reverse but not this combination? I think the first tea tray was seen in 78?

Could someone please tell me the length and width measurement of the large (primary) grille on an A/C car?

[QUOTE=RatBox;5897446]Anyone ever seen one of these actually installed on a 1977 MY - 80 MY .....West German market only sold 911 model ? (Not ROW, but West German ONLY market) .
I have one of those on my 1977 C3 originally delivered in Germany. Glass fiber on steel frame. Part No. 930 512 010 00 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1408434957.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1408434978.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1408434991.jpg |

What is the value of a nice condition early small second grill 930 turbo tail like mine? Ideally I want to revert my car back to a proper 3.2 tail. Photos are a couple posts up. ;)
