Strasse S-Performance Chip Questions!?!?
I recently bought an 85 Carrera and in the folder of documentation is a plastic bag with a chip in it.
The paperwork says the chip is a Strasse S-Performance Chip (CH3004) for a 1988-1989 Carrera. Could I use this chip safely in the '85? If not, what is a chip like this worth? I only hear people talking about the SW chip, and can't find any info on the board about this Strasse chip. Thanks in advance.

The chip in the bag is probably your stock chip unless it says S Performance or whatever on it. Are you talking about Strasse USA? They merged with Smith Volvo in San Luis Obispo.

Never heard of it.
I can only recommend Steve Wong's chip. You can't go wrong with a chip from Steve Wong!!!!!!

Steve Wong has an impeccable reputation, and seems like a good guy. But if the O.P. does not want to try the S Performance chip, then hell I'll try it out. Why not?

The chip says S-Performance on it. It also says that it is for an 88-89 Carrera and I have an 85. I know there were some changes, so I'm just curious.
The person I bought the car from said this chip came with an 89 he owned 10 years ago but he never used it. He just threw it in the box of goodies that went with the car I bought because he said he didn't forsee buying another Porsche for a few years.

I answered my own question by calling the 800 number on the chip.
The chip is for a stock 88-89 Carrera and won't even fit in my car.

There is a guy who might (emphasize might) have a socket that will plug into your stock board and fit that chip. Try contacting Russell Berry at Maxhpkit.com. Sorry if this is a violation of the board or something, which I am not aware of.
