question re selling
I'll be putting my car up for sale soon - is there any point listing it now, even though it'll be in storage for at least another 6 weeks? I can show it to people (though it's not in a very convenient location - barn out in the country) but it can't be driven, and I really don't like the idea of starting it up just to hear it run, then shutting it back down and zipping it back up. It's in a heated storage barn, in a zip-up carbag, with silica salt keeping it dry.
But if it's a long-distance purchase and it goes in for PPI, it could be towed in then shipped directly from the shop. Or should I just wait until it's back on the road in the spring? valuation question thread is here: Price check: 72 911T w/ spare motor

That is a very sharp car. I would go ahead and get it out there, but I would let people know how it is stored and the trouble it is to get to it for the next couple of weeks,so you don't waste both yourself and someone elses time.

I'll provide an opposite viewpoint. What's 6 weeks? You can wait until it's more convenient to show it, and demand will rise as the weather gets warmer. Any serious buyer will want to test drive it on the snowy or salty roads, which will make it dirty. I say hang on for a few more weeks.

I would wait as well. You don't want it to look like it's been on the market for too long, as buyers will just try to use that against you and low ball you. It seems like the only people that are looking to buy a car right now are the ones trying to get a steal anyway, the exact people you don't want to deal with. Let the warmer weather bring out real buyers!

I would list it now, the economy is only going to get worse.

6 weeks isn't going to make any difference in the market, and I would imagine that time would be more convenient for you to attend to selling it. Plus potential buyers are going to figure it's worth less if it's in storage & maybe can't be driven. Like you said, you really don't to fiddle with starting it up, showing it, and having to button it back up. If you're hard up for the money, then that might be another thing, but like some others have said - WAIT.

Ok, sounds like the best thing to do is wait. Either way, I'm working against the market - if I sell in the soft market now, I get to buy in it. But if I sell in the hot market later, I have to buy in it as well.
