Only if you don't use tires.

A 9.5" wheel will fit a 9" widebody fender but a 12.5" wide wheel will not fit an 11" widebody fender with out sticking out or rubbing. I've tried every trick in the book and 12" is max and only with the right tires. If someone has found a way please post it.

Aren't the offset completely different making any modern wheel impossible to fit (unless made to measure)?

Interesting car but those aren't stock 11" flairs, the rims stick out past the lip of the flair and the tires are more narrow than the rim. Not what most would consider a standard fit.
On a standard widebody 911 you have 13" from the inner wheel well to the outer flair lip. That is 12" max on the wheel being slammed against the spring plate. Modification on the passenger's side and added camber are needed to allow for suspension travel.

Ok so what is the ideal 18" wheel measurements for the front and rear with low offset?

I don't know the answer (I'm assuming you're asking what are the widest wheels you can run on your car). But no one else can answer that question unless you supply the following information: There was no Turbo Look option for your car that year. Are you running the stock hubs and suspension that came on a 1977 car? Spacers? How about the flares? Are those turbo flares? Out of curiosity, what wheels are you running right now?

They are 930 turbo flares, I don't mind spacers, it is stock hub (I believe). Here is a link to the post with all the info on the wheels I have now, and the wheels I am looking at. Thanks.
Help i need a wheel fitment / offset expert !! *pics inside* |

The 9" and 11.5" x 17" wheels on my '79 930 are +3mm front and +19mm rear offset. These wheels DO NOT use the stock 21/28mm spacers.

Unfortunately many of the posters are confusing the issue. what fits a 930 chassis w/ 930 hubs & trailing arms is not appropriate for a 911 chassis w/ 911 hubs and trailing arms. Some of the cars even appear to be even further off the mark.
I'd discuss your need w/ someone like Jeff Alton, it never hurts to get other opinions but I'd start w/ someone that is intimately involved. to the best of my knowledge a 911 chassis w/ 930 fenders and no spacers wants something like 9 ~ET 11 -15 11 ~ET -8 there is some play depending on tires and how the car is set up.
