My trans is stuck in reverse? Help!
This is for my 67 912. At first it was stuck in third gear when I was driving home. I managed to get it out of third but now it's locked in reverse and I can't get it out. I replaced the shifter bushing and disconnected the coupler (accessed from the back seat area) and have ruled out any bushing issues. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure it's internal to the transmission. Simple fix ideas? Major fix ideas? Thanks, Jim

How do they say? Been there, done that.
Happened to me a couple of times when my shifting was sloppy.....i.e. not being careful getting into the gate correctly. This worked for me. Jack up the rear of the car. Remove the backup light switch at the front of the transmission (it screws out)....some gear oil may leak out. Inside there is a pin that I was able to push inward (with some difficulty). Think I used my finger. There is not a lot of clearance to get a screwdriver or other tool in there to depress this pin. After that, I replaced the reverse backup light switch. And found that I was no longer stuck in reverse. Do a search on this problem, and you'll see some other posts that address this very problem. Good luck.
