What can you tell about this 1970 T "RSR"

The engine appears to be 1972 911TV (Vergaser / carburetor) RoW not originally imported into the USA.

Aside from the other replacement panels and front pan, the driver’s door striker panel (with the bogus sticker) is a ’72 and later replacement part. I’ll suspect major rust (repaired?)

Clearly Fuchs replicas. I don’t recognize the profile. Quality?

Is the car in Panama? Is there someone from the US Embassy who can inspect the VIN? Possibly there is some knowledgeable FBI guy who travels Central and South America?

I wonder how much of the 3475# are drugs built into the chassis? It gets shipped to the USA, stolen and ‘mined’ for the drugs.

there was a red turbo mod'd to look RSR in Excellence not all that long ago. was sold here on Pelican IIRC for something around that figure.

not sure you'll find a 964 turbo for that kinda dough though.

Grady: the car is in Kansas, not Panama. I have convinced my brother to keep looking elsewhere. If anybody really wants this car, its listed on eBay right now.

Berettafan, or should I call you 92FS?!: showed that Turbo you are talking about that sold for $27K to my brother and he liked it, but no longer available. A beautiful green RSR clone sold here for nearly $50K with a 3.2 in it.

My brother found another car. I will post on that one once I know more about it.

The craziness of that sticker aside, you do realize that "GVWR" means "Gross Vehicle Weight Rating", right?

It doesn't represent the actual weight of the vehicle at all. Rather it is the maximum total weight of the vehicle when loaded - including the vehicle's own weight.

A noted GVWR of 3475lbs. doesn't mean that's what the car actually weighs.

Interesting comments...
This is happens to be my car for sale. I do know Porsches fairly well and I am not a dealer but have a car collection as you can see in the background. As some on this forum know since I have spoken to you over the phone, I do not know this car very well. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago from CA. and have not had the time to put it on my lift and crawl all over it because I have been too busy with work. The reason I am selling is that I purchased another car and need to let this one go before the other arrives. What I can tell you is that it starts and runs well, tracks straight even under braking. The tires are hard (old) and need replaced but show no cracking. All glass is great, no chips or cracks.
As for the door label, that is a good one and I am not sure about it. All I know is that I have a good title in hand. This is not a perfect car by any means but it is nice...the price certainly reflects this. I will get a chance today to look over the car closely to give better answers as to what it needs. I am sure that it has some rust...most early 911s do in various areas. If it does have rust issues, I would be more than happy to sell it accordingly. My comments were when I believed the car was in Panama. Only later did I see your adv.

I still recommend you research the title history and have an official KS VIN inspection with a FBI NCIC check.
Make sure the technition knows what to look for.
I can advise him/her if necessary as I trained the CHP and FBI here.

I assume that you have a KS title in your name and have been through this procedure.
Here in Colorado it is illegal to transfer cars with an ‘open’ title. CO has a program to go back and collect
sales tax and impose hefty penalties and fines (I have heard of 20X added cost). I don’t know about
KS but States use this as a revenue source.

The risk you run selling it without knowing, is someone (not necessarily the one you sell to) will come back
and look to you for all the money he spent restoring it only to find it is actually owned by Allstate or other.

If everything is good, you can sell for a higher price. If bad, you can either cut your losses or go back to
your seller in CA. The good news is the seller is probably easy to find after only three weeks. I suspect
not so easy several years from now.

In any case, I believe it is best to know now and not let the arrival of another 911 influence your decision.

Title is in hand and inspection was done. Out of state vehicles have to be inspected in Kansas.
Not replacing it with another 911. I already have a 72 911 and an 86 turbo which I absolutely love. I purchased this car to eventually run on the track but a deal finally came through on a vintage Ferrari so I needed to make a decision. If I only had more storage room

Get a through Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI).
That means BEFORE you pay.

Yeap, my brother is first talking about doing the PRE purchase Inspection (PPI) and then make an offer as if it does not pass with flying colors, there is no sense in making offers since he does not want to deal with outstanding mechanical issues. Problem is that the car he is now looking at is at a dealer in New York that apparently does a lot of volume and offering to do the PPI (at a cost) themselves. I don't believe in the fact that the seller and the place to do the PPI should be the same, but taking into account the weather conditions, I can see/understand why they would not want to move the car from the showroom floor into another persons' garage.

If you're going to rely on a PPI from the seller... why bother getting a PPI at all?

A real PPI has to be (HAS TO BE) from an independent third party who has no interest (financial or otherwise) in the sale. Better yet if the mechanic has never even seen or worked on that car before. No incentive to cover up or downplay past mistakes.

Depending on where it is, the car could usually be trailered to a third party shop with minimal effort or expense.
