Question What can you tell about this 1970 T "RSR"

This is the car my brother is considering purchasing. Anyone care to comment (positive or negative, does not matter, just want to help him avoid a ton of headache$)
No records for the car, "supposedly 90K miles, 2.4 engine, 901 gearbox, all fenders fiberglass, not sure if original 15" Fuchs or replicas. Seller is a dealer that apparently does not know much about these cars
Any and all comments are more than welcome.
My brother plans to add a Prototipo wheel, change the seats, add RS door panels, add rear seats/belts, and AC. Not sure if the last is doable with this car.

Must be very rare-a Porsche manufactured by Daimler-Benz.

Going by the pictures... It look pretty good and it looks like it has been cherished.
Someone has spent some money on this car.
The front pan looks like it's been replaced - Paint is "too good" in the luggage compartment.

I would definitely recommend getting a PPI before considering purchase.

It's even more so than you had imagined: It's actually the ultra-rare Damiler Benz.

That really is one heavy RSR at 3475 lbs it must have the very rare Lead floor option the Benz comment is because damlier benz didn't make porsches

All kidding aside looks like a nice car, for me it's very hard to tell if the fuchs are original or replicas with out any pictures of the back

The Fuchs are replicas. I can tell by the outer profile.

Aside from a few interesting quirks that looks like a pretty nice car! Definitely get a PPI if possible.

I too got a chuckle out of the Benz tag.

Did not see the tag! HAHAHAHAHA

This is precisely why I posted this car here as I knew that hundreds of eyes would see more things than my brother and I. Here is another pic from a non Daimler ID tag

Guess its a numbers matching car after all! LOL!

I am trying to convince my brother to look at something else as I too am getting a "fishy" smell from this car.

Is a RSR-look 911 with AC for $35K a pipe dream? You can see RS replicas all day for $25K+, but RSRs are a bit more difficult to find. My brother and I both LOVE the look the longhood RSRs have (we grew up seeing up close these cars at the track), but I am a bit more practical these days, hence suggesting a 964 Turbo, but its tough to not stare at a RSR. The car will be used as a toy/weekend street driven one in Florida, so AC is a must. Any leads?

wtf is the deal with the benz sticker?

wondering why bolts on front suspension pan mounts appear to have been painted over.

have you priced a more appropriate motor for that car?

honestly that sticker would be enough for me to run.

I'm pretty sure my brother is going to pass on this one. No AC, questionable history, and other PMs received make us look elsewhere.
What he wants is this "look" but with a 3.0-3.6 motor, AC, RS door panels, period correct styled seats, and nothing else to do to the car. Max budget of $35K. Leads are more than welcome!

The wheels are weldups at best.

The photo of the front pan shows an improper repair. Caution.

Price you mentioned is way high for this car.

Realize that RSR body work is 4 fender flares, either FG or metal, bonded or welded on, and ducktail. There is nothing RSR about this car other than "look", and that more impression than something that will take any scrutiny.

A through PPI needed if you go forward.

Aside from a mechanical PPI, I would have a law enforcement ‘physical inspection’ of the VIN.

Clearly the door jamb sticker is bogus. The spellin is Daimler-Benz NOT “DAMILER BENZ”. Give me a break!

What does the ‘public VIN’ look like?

I would want to look under the chassis VIN, at the backside of the aluminum VIN plate and confirm an unmolested ‘build number’. This last number (if it still exists) can be tied to the original VIN by the FBI to PCNA and PAG. This should be done now so some unsuspecting sot doesn't buy a problem.

What title history?

If the VIN passes (and I suspect it won’t), I would not value this as anything other than a modified 1970 911T. You can make tour own determination if it was a suitable modification. I see nothing "RSR" about it.

Best,
Grady

Asking price for this car is $24K, but a little bird told me the seller will consider taking $19K for it. Still, more than likely, my brother will pass on it.

Gus, the above advice is spot on. The Federal import sticker on the door is amusing, but actually could cause difficulties in importing the car to Panama, since manufacturer ID is incorrect. This is the type of car experienced Porsche owners try to prevent first time Porsche buyers from choosing. Cosmetics are good, but I suspect a good PPI would turn up 'issues.'
This car is presented for an emotional purchaser to just jump on it.
We have an old saying: Act in haste, repent at leisure. Meaning you may find it's a $10K car under $15K of pretty packaging.

Edit: just saw the $19K mention above. That makes a lot of difference. But check out the potential issue with importing a car with that Fed ID sticker. You might be better off just removing it.

The car is not for me, its for my brother who lives in Miami. Just helping him out because I am a bit more knowledgeable about these cars than he is, but NOWHERE near what the experts here are. It would be his first 911 (I just sold my 996 a few months ago after a few years worth of ownership and traded that for a Cayenne Turbo) and I too agree that this is not the best car for him, hence me making the suggestion for a nearly stock 964 Turbo (cool AC, ABS, coil overs, overall performance, classic looks, etc.).

He is used to use the "wrong head" to think with so emotions do run high with him. Just something about big flares on an early car
