Engine mounts, how many in total?
Because I am dropping the engine on Saturday I would like to know (so no surprises) that how many mounting bolts there are in total that need to be removed?
2 in engine compartment 2 at the transmission If other, where?

There are just those 4. One thing I learned on my first drop, remove the crossmember at the trany first it makes it a lot easier to get to the cables and undo them.

While we are on the subject... Has anyone upgraded to "club sport" motor mounts?
Firmer than stock, but not the bone-shakers that the solid ones are. thanks, BB |

Club sport mounts are the same part # as cabrio (and maybe targa as well) mounts. Can't really say if they made any noticeable difference as I replaced them over the winter during a motor drop. Didn't drive the car back-to-back to see the change. Plus, you can't install the sport mounts on the G50 trans. crossmember as they are not removeable like the 915 and earlier cars, so I don't have a good idea of whether or not they make a big difference. Solid mounts definitely will make you take notice.

I just replaced my 72 with the sport mounts. I have had the car for 11 yrs. Didn't look like the mounts were changed although the tranny mounts LOOKED newer. Before, when ever i would shift from 1st to 2nd i could feel the eng and tranny moving, not any more.
