Question on power mirrior switch-Yes I am a newbie...

Hello All,

Newbie here; new to the forum. Not so new to cars...

Just bought an '84 Turbo Look car. Car has sunroof and at least one power mirror. I say one because I cannot find the little rocker switch that is supposed to toggle from left to right. The switch for the sunroof seems to occupy the spot where the mirror selector switch usually is.
What gives? Do I only have a power mirror on the left side? I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but I can't find any damn switch to control the right mirror!

Here is the car...

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Nice looking car.

The mirror selector on my 81SC is right below the temp/oil pressure gauge on the surface parallel to the ground. Not easy to see. Is this where your sun roof switch is?

Yes that is right where my sunroof switch is; but alas, no mirror switch! I checked and I can feel a indentation where the switch should be I think. Is it possible to have just the LH power mirror and not the right one? Kinda strange, or I'm just not smart enough

Thanks!

Mike

Mike,

Here are two jpegs from our '86 owner's manual.

The switches appear to be as per previous posts.

The right mirror was an option (261), or (262)
on the 1984 model.

The mirror options were:

#261-Electrically adjustable and heated.

#262-Manual and not heated. (no switch).

Google "1984 Porsche options+right side mirror".

Good luck,

Gerry

I have a 79 SC w/ two mirrors. Driver side is powered, passenger side is not!

Sounds backwards doesn't it. I can roll down the driver side window but I can't reach the passenger side to adjust.

does anyone have photos or instructions about the power mirror switch wiring? the knob is on top of the door panel, with 6 wires plugged into the switch. there is no numbering on the switch, so i have no idea where the wires go. i burned the fuse last night trying to figure the wiring out.

Ok.... I must be daft....?

RHD (Aussie car) '78 911SC

My right mirror (elec & heated) works fine from my door switch for the mirrors

My Left mirror (also elec & heated) doesn't work coz I have NO selector switch next to my sunroof switch? WTF?

PS, I know my left mirror (passenger) is elec & heated as I removed it and found all the wiring. I also plugged it into the drivers side mirror plug to check it works and sure enough it did!

Any suggestions?
