Pictures help.
I suspect they are: Crankcase breather from oil tank. Evaporative emmissions control from fuel tank and charcoal canister in the front. Drain for condensation and overflow oil to the outside via a 'drip piece' just forward of the engine oil cooler. Best, Grady

Pictures are always a help but here is my stab at it (as memory serves).
1. The large opening on the bottom of the fitting on the back side is the oil tank breather connection. There shoulde be a brass flame trap that fits in the orifice before the hose is connected to it. 2. The smaller hose on the top of the fitting is the vent line from the gas tank via the charcol cannister. 3. the small opening on the very bottom is a oil collection drip line. It collects oil and sends it to the drip container that is bolted to the back side of the engine oil cooler. I have seen plastic air boxes that also have a cold start fuel fitting in them too. Grady you beat me to it again ![]()

Thanks for the quick response!
Is the charcoal canister the little metal thing at the back (see picture)? Do you also know why these hoses are connected to the airbox? They got nothing to do with the air intake right? Ed ![]() |

No, the "T" fitting is the fitting I was referring to. The charcol cannister is in the front of the car on the driver side next to the battery (or that is where it is supposed to be). The two vent lines are connected to the plenim because they are part of the emissions control system back then. The vapors were drawn into the motor and burnt instead of being vented directly to the the atmosphere.
The air intake is on the other side where the filter is...however you are missing the cover for it in the picture.

Aha, of course, fumes are guided back to the airbox to get burned. This makes sense.
I got the whole system installed but thinking of removing the flapper box. Don't drive the car when it's freezing anyway. Any thoughts on removing a flapper box? Ed ![]() |

The flapper was for emissions and is not needed at all, but if you want the stock look, keep it. If you remove, like most do, cap the HE and cover the sheet metal where the tube slides through.
