Please help ID this wire

My car has this connector on both DR and PAS side the yellow and brown come out under the dash, and the connection continues along the inside of the door-sill into the back somewhere.
The other side of this connection is very deteriorated with cracked/dried insulation in many places and is sure to cause a variety of shorts. Both connectors are currently disconnected, but everything in the car still seems to work.

Any ideas?

When you post please tell us what year and model car you have. This helps us quite a bit when posting answers.

That being said, it appears that you have an early 911 '72-'77 vintage. If that is correct these wires connect to the bottom of the seats. They send a signal to the car which activates the seat belt light and buzzer if I recall correctly. They can be disconnected and removed from the vehicle if the aforementioned warning devices are not required/desired to operate properly.

You are correct in your guesstimate of the year.
It's a 73.5 T, Targa. Sorry I should have posted that originally, just slipped my mind.

I didn't even know my car had seatbelt buzzers! The driver's seat has been replaced with a Cobra racing seat, and the passenger's will be as soon as I get around to it.
That said, the wire seems to go behind the firewall (to the engine bay, not trunk), rather than under the seats.

From memory these lines go into the center tunnel and merge into the main wiring harness. The buzzer is a small round silver cannister (about the same size as a 5 pin relay). I believe it is on the passenger side under the dash board.

The wiring diagram is gratiously provided by Pelican. On the diagram the switches and wires are associated with #43, #44 & #46. here is the link:

Thanks, I'll take a closer look when I get a chance!
