A/C delete & center console: what is correct?
I have a US-market '83 SC, on which I've performed a near-complete A/C delete. The only remaining aspect that needs addressing is the removal of the A/C controls in the center console. The car has a Blaupunkt Monterey with the fader control between the A/C dials.
Did ROW SCs (without A/C) have the entire L-shaped housing removed? If so, they must have had a different Balupunkt model with a self-contained fader dial. US-spec 911s with factory option 574 (A/C delete)--what did they have in terms of center console dials or radios? Is there a center console alternative to the typical A/C & fader controls that only contains the center fader control?

How about some of those rubber plugs available from the dealer? It would not look original, but I have never seen an A/C delete car with the fader switch. Also, remove the entire L-shaped trim and rewire your speakers directly to your radio. This would leave you with the hazard and defogger switch. Nice and clean. Good luck, Gerry

My hazard button is to the left of the steering wheel, and the defogger switch is between my speedometer and clock, so I don't think they're involved in this. Also remembered after the fact to pull my Brookland's Gold Portfolio off the shelf; plenty of ROW interior shots in there. Most of those pictured with center consoles and no A/C had no dials in the console bay. However, one shot had the fader control only, from an '83 UK- Cabriolet. That's the housing that I'd like to find! ![]()

can't help you too much but i removed it all and replaced the radio. even if you didn't replace the radio how many times in your ownership have you faded the speakers? remove it for a clean look and don't look back.

The only thing better than doing an AC delete is doing an AC and Radio delete !

I hear you; between the flat-six as well as wind and road noise (when the windows are down at speed), the Blaupunkt is never in use. I sometimes turn it on when driving through the drive-thru bank teller.

Hey Forza, if you can't find the full L bracket, you could source a piece of flat carbon fiber and trim it to fit. Could look quite nice!
