Footwell blower motor replacement.
I searched a lot of posts, but could not find a new replacement footwell blower motor.
The footwell blower assy is available from many sources, but not, motor only. The motors are original to the car, and have already been serviced once as per: Footwell blowers squeaky, how to fix. Which is a great link! Any sources out there? Thanks in advance. Gerry

Gerry,
Hope all is well. Are you only interested in new motors? Don't suppose you know the bosch motor p/n (I assume it's Bosch)?

Hi Gerry,
In another thread Ianc adapted an AC blower motor to the footwell. He indicated it was readily available for $52, but some modding is required for the spade lug connection. Only other issue is that he cites the PN for the AC blower motor as the same one you provided. Could the FW blower PN be instead an AEG W960 80075? please disregard if you already considered this. Replacement footwell blower motor solution

Footwell Blower Motor.

That's one of the threads I reviewed. It is a back-up, but I don't understand why these motors are NLA from Porsche, and, so hard to find. We just turned 109K on our 911, don't see a lot of cold weather, but having reworked the two motors once, I'm ready for replacements. Thanks for your input. Gerry

I read a thread last spring where someone installed blowers from a marine supply company. I'm on my phone or I'd do a search for you. Very Inexpensive swap.

I know this is an old thread and others have been unsuccessful, but I am going to try to find a replacement motor only for the footwell blowers.
Can anyone tell me what the amperage draw and nominal rpm is for these motors? Thanks

I'm currently reworking mine. Really dumb question - how do you get the squirrel cage off? Looks like it's just screwed onto the end of a bolt but I can't turn the cage without turning the motor. Thus, I can't remove it.

The fan is just pressed on. I removed mine by placing a support under the wide flange of the motor support fan so the motor was hanging down, and then I gently tapped the motor shaft with a hammer and punch to push it down through the fan. Put domething under the motor so it does not hit the floor.

I have measured my motors carefully and have found several possible replacements from asian or european suppliers in the $25 - $50 range, but shaft speeds range from 1800 - 12,000 RPM and amperage draws have a wide range as well depending upon how much torque the motor has. I've got a set of factory manuals and the RPM and amperage draw might be in there, but I posted on the board here hoping for a quicker answer. I've got a couple of months here in North Carolina before I absolutely must have fully functional heat, so I'll give it that long and then buy used or new if I have to.

After lubricating the sleeve bearings one of mine drew 5.8 amps and the other 4.5 amps.
Fully assmbled bench test. Didn't think to measure the flow rates. 88 Carrera, ~90k miles. |
