Spedo only goes to 35 mph, hummmm

Driving down the road and noticed that the speedometer now only reads 35 mph. I am going around 60 so, OH NO! Things that flash through your mind in less than a second: speedometer burned out $$$, sender craped out $$, magnets fell off trigger wheel in transmission $$$$$$$. Ok, check it out (bang on speedometer, nothing. Count pulses on one revolution of wheel (look for small pulses on spedo needle) 8, ok, look at sender on passenger side of transmission, hummm somethings missing! The hold down wire and bolt MIA, sender just hanging there.

cleaned it up and pooped it back in the hole.
fabricated up a big washer and a bolt/lock washer, tightened it all up.

Checked it on the road at known rpm vs mph. All is good! A free fix! Now to find the right parts, someday!!!
Man, that thing is dirty! need a pressure washer for sure.

Newbie question: does the odometer signal come from the same sender?

Thanks

Yes. All of the speedo/odometer input comes from this one sender.

Why are you asking? Is yours not working?
There's a small plastic gear inside the speedo that can fail.
It's a common problem with our cars.

Yah. I'm gonna send the speedo to north Hollywood speedos, I think that is the correct name. They already gave me a price (extremely reasonable, and fast, too)

thanks for the answer.
