Idle issues... pls help

Hi all, I am having some issues with the idle on my car. The car is an -84 Carrera. To the problem, the car always starts without issues and will idle fine if I just let it sit. The problem arise when I drive. Before the car has reached normal operating temp it tends to die on me when I disengage the clutch at an intersection for example. It feels like the idle drops to low before the idle control valve loop is able to catch it if that makes any sense. Sometimes it dies and sometimes the idle will bounce back up to the correct rpm. The problem seems to go away when the car is properly warmed up. Except for the issue with the idle the car runs great and pulls strong through the gears. I would appreciate any help you can give me in diagnosing the problem.

Regards

Claes

Claes,

It certainly sounds like the ICV is worn or dirty. While it can be cleaned, there are mixed results with this. Some say it made no difference. If possible, find another car and swap theirs in to test.
Then there is - if this is an issue that has been happening for some time, the issue may be in your fuel settings and base idle settings.

84,

Soundslike exactly the same symptoms I had on my '85. I replaced the ICV and everything returned to normal.
