Engine hatch release button

I have a Porsche 911 (996) from 2001 and the engine hatch release button (inside the cabin in the door frame) has been accidently pushed through to the other side of the fitting. How do I remove the protector strip in order to get access to the button to allow it to be fixed back in place ? I can't find a way to remove it.

Thanks.

Ian.

Try posting this question in the 996/997 forum.

But if your 996 is like most modern cars the trim piece probably snaps into place.
I wouldn't try and force it until someone chimes in who knows were to apply pressure or how to release the clips.

The last thing you'd want to do it break of any of the mounting clips.
