Door window is loose
Hi.
Today, manually opening the window it became loose. Now I can't close it. I can lift the glass with my hands. How can I fix it? Must remove the door panel? Thank you José

Hi Jose',
Yes, I am afraid you will have to remove the inside panel so you can see what the problem is and in order to repair. The window has a slotted track at the bottom, and the regulator linkage (arms with wheels) may have come out of the track. You can only get to them thru the panel. Then you can see why they came apart - if nothing is broken, clean all old (hardened) grease and re-lubricate, re-assemble and test. Hope this helps,

It is possible that your pivot pin on the regulator has failed.
Like the above poster, you will need to remove the door card and regulator to figure out what you need to do. It is not hard (I have done both of mine). This article tells you how to remove the door card: Pelican Technical Article: 911 door panel remove This article tells you how to remove your window regulator: Pelican Technical Article: 911 Window Regulator Replacement Some Threads on Pivot Pins: Argh!!! Had the same issue last year. Opening up the door I saw that the track had rusted. In the process it expanded and lost its grip on the window. Not very hard to fix, just needed a new track.

Johan, is the glass glued to the track or is just held in by the friction of the track/rubber?

My window came loose once after heavy rain.
The glass is clamped in rubber in the metal track that moves it up/down; the water acted as a lubricant making it come loose. Clean & glue worked here. Might also be mechanical failure; you need to remove the panel to check ...

My driver's window popped out of the track last year and then disappeared into the door, I was super lucky that it didn't fall to the bottom of the door and shatter. The widow sits in a rubber channel shaped seal and that sits in the metal window track. The window is held into the seal with glue and the seal is glued to the track. I had to remove the door card, pull the quarter window out, then slide the glass out. The pivot for the track then had to be unbolted so you'll be able to get the window back in later. To remove the window track you slide it towards the front of the car until it clears one of the roller wheels (this is one reason why you remove the quarter window) then pivot up and slide it off the second roller wheel. The clean up the old glue, use some windshield adhesive and reinstall the door glass and reassemble. The threads above should help a lot.
Good luck. J
