CA Smog Requirements changed for 3.2's

Keep getting the pretest until it passes and then have the place test for the record immediately.

Only problem is you don't know what the standard is until you (or someone with an identical car) runs the test.

there is a list based on year and model - get a copy of the list from the agency

I think the list changes from county to county. I don't dyno test, havent done the evap test. The only thing they do is shove the sniffer up the tailpipe, and do a visual inspection. Who knows, maybe that will change with time...

Perhaps not....although I met someone recently with a Euro 930 that said they got him exemption.

Interesting. I have considered getting them as well, but I didn't think I can live with the restrictions when the car could be driven.

Here are my results from last April:

idle: HC: Max 120, Avg 37, measured 35
CO: Max 1.0, Avg .10, measured .07

2500 RPM: HC: Max 150, Avg 31, measured 18
CO: Max 1.20, Avg .20, measured .27

It's interesting how the Max & Avg varies from one test location to another...

For the hearing impaired, CA classic plates do NOT exempt you from smog tests. The plate restricts use, cost more with no added benefit.

Here in AZ it does. You also have to have it insured as a classic or historic car.

The only way you are exempt in California is if it's a home built ride, has one of the 500 a year special construction permits OR is older than the 1976 model year.

Anybody read the latest nonsense? Cal bill AB 2289. Can anyone explain what it will mean to us.
Maybe someone from CARB or BAR or whatever they call themselves is a Pelican and can explain this.
