Odd Horn-like Noise While Turning

I've had the '73 911T for about 6 weeks now and am discovering new little wrinkles every day!

First off, the horn button on my Momo steering wheel doesn't work. I haven't investigated that yet but will.

But, while turning, (not all the time, but in either direction), I hear a wimpy horn sound. It sort of oscillates in time to the suspension, if that makes sense.

What do I have going on here? Where should I start?

Have you checked to see if the tires are rubbing the body? How shape are the struts in? Could the brake calipers be dragging the disc?

HAHA, this reminds me of high school. I use to have an old VW golf, and the same situation happened with my friends VW fox, but when I would turn my horn would go off. Sometimes it would be pretty quiet and kinda sounded like a dying Fran Drescher and other times it would be a full horn. What it ended up being is a loose screw with the horn and the contacts would touch when I turned.

Anyways, I would start with your horn contacts if that is where the sound is coming from. After all, these cars have lots of the same parts as the old VWs.

Pull the cover off the wheel, you have the wire shorting out and sending weak current to the horn...

Maybe...

Thanks to each of the suggestions. I don't think it's the tire rubbing as the sound is definately musical. And the thought of brake calipers dragging is painful! I think we have a short here somewhere and I'll try that first.

Disconnect the horn to see if it stops. If it does, you've ruled out other causes.
