72 911 speedometer removal -help

I'm removing the speedometer to have the odometer fixed. I have the 101 projects book. I've successfully removed the speedometer and detached the cable, but I don't know what to do with the 4or 5 wires in the back of the speedometer.

Do I remove them from the base of the speedometer? If so, how? Or do they come out with the speedometer?

Thanks for any advice

Mike

Those wires are for the back lights...use a very thin, flat blade screwdriver and pry them out. They may be a little tight at first....apply a little lubricant and they'll eventually come out with some friendly persuasion.

So u mean I pry out under the round, bronze colored washer-type pieces?

What about the wire that connects to the odometer reset?

Thanks very much!

Also, one more thing.

When you re-connect the wires,
connect the red power wire last,
with the ignition off.

The IC in you speedometer is no longer
easily available.

Good luck,

Gerry
