72 911 speedometer removal -help
I'm removing the speedometer to have the odometer fixed. I have the 101 projects book. I've successfully removed the speedometer and detached the cable, but I don't know what to do with the 4or 5 wires in the back of the speedometer.
Do I remove them from the base of the speedometer? If so, how? Or do they come out with the speedometer? Thanks for any advice Mike |

Those wires are for the back lights...use a very thin, flat blade screwdriver and pry them out. They may be a little tight at first....apply a little lubricant and they'll eventually come out with some friendly persuasion.

So u mean I pry out under the round, bronze colored washer-type pieces?
What about the wire that connects to the odometer reset? Thanks very much! |

Also, one more thing.
When you re-connect the wires, connect the red power wire last, with the ignition off. The IC in you speedometer is no longer easily available. Good luck, Gerry
