trans backup switch question

I want to separate the trans and engine and am not sure how to disconnect the backup switch. Could anyone tell me how to do this? It looks like the wire leads can be pulled out of the switch but they didn't budge when I tried. Is there an easy way to pull these out?

You just pull them out. Grip them at the metal connectors and pull. You could unscrew the entire switch but the wires will become twisted.
