Can a 2.7 handle boost if updated ?

Can a 2.7 handle boost if updated ?
With a front mount 28 tube brass oil cooler, timeserts, 11 blade fan,SSi heat exchangers with dual in single out stock muffler and a low mileage U.S spec 2.7 CIS motor with OE pistons.
I was just wondering if thats an option for me. I would like to put in a 3.6 in a couple of years but want more power now. Ive heard that someone makes a supercharger for the CIS setup. Is that true ? If so who sells and manufactures the kit ? How much boost will the stock motor handle ?

http://www.paulweir.com/rebuild/supercharge.html

A dated link, because it talks about Paul Weir up north as being a distributor of the product....Weir went tits up a while ago....

You can turbo anything...including a 2.7. Just don't look for an off the shelf kit.....

There are few threads from the past....do an archive search on this site...

Supercharging of Knoxville (SOK) makes both a whipple and centrifugal unit for CIS 911s. Kits are designed for the 3.0L SC.
Could probably be made to work with the 2.7 with little effort.
Boost limits depend on type of supercharger and the use of an intercooler (without going into the motor).

I've talked with SOK about this in regard to a 2.4. The reason they only manufacture kits for 3.0 and above is that they do not believe that the earlier cases can withstand the increased pressures, even with TimeCerts, Raceware studs, etc.

SOK actually makes a smog legal charger for the 3.2....they did not bother to get CARB approval for the 3.0....

I am rebuilding my 76' car that had 116,000 miles and has had a turbo on since 1976. The hard part is finding anyone that has seen this done. It seems pretty simple set up with the CIS.
