How to gain access to replace seat belts?

Hello all,

Did some searches but didn't find the answer to this.

What is the best way to gain access to the front seat belt mechanisms for replacement? Do I need to remove the entire trim panel behind the door opening?

Silly question maybe but I was curious about any best practices...

Thanks!

Yes, you'll need to remove the trim panel. The reel mechanism is bolted into a threaded boss just behind the door jamb.

Tim, I changed both of my reels a few years back and I did not remove the panels. I got access thru the fwd edge by removing just the cover at the edge of the door and the strip at the carpet edge. It's a pain but I was able to get my wrench in there.
