short shift kit...how to recognize?

How can I tell if the PO installed a short shift kit on my car? Whats the difference to the stock shift?
tks....

Drive another 74-89 where the owner knows what shifter it has (factory or short shift). YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL right away....

I have the weltmeister.

Basically, if your throws from 1st - second are ~ 5 - 6 inches, it is factory. If it is shorter than this, it is a short shifter.

I think my throws are about 3 - 4 inches, almost too short really.
Feels cool though...

The factory ss lever has a machined notch up by the knob, the original 75 was smooth.

Yes mine is smooth by the knob, and has a 5 ~inch movement. I will buy my short shift......tks
