Replace O2 sensor or not?

The 60k service recommends replacing the o2 sensor.
What's the wisdom of others ... should this be done
preventively or when it fails?

Thanks!

I ended up replacing mine while chasing down a hesitation issue I had with my car. My car had around 100k miles on her so it was overdue anyway. I can't see the harm in replacing it and keeping up with maintenance items. I'm still a newbie though so I'm sure others on here will be of more help.

An O2 sensor can go bad slowly and you won't notice it until it is really gone and a problem shows up. Buy a new sensor and replace the old one but I keep it as a spare.
