Trying to identify a non-matching engine serial #

I am looking at buying an older 911, and the motor is not original. I am posting to see if anyone can help me with what engine it might be that is in the car.

Serial # is: 6670691

Any help would be great, Thanks!

The # indicates it is a 1977 3 liter carrera engine. If you can check type it should be 930/02

That number comes back as a 1977 3.0L engine.

That should be a 911 Carrera 3,0 type 911/48 engine

Get it. I owned a 77 carrera and it was a phenomenal car. I wish I hadn't sold it for a 3.2

The 3.0 carrera engine didn't feel good until 4k RPM but man if you kept it spun up it was a blast to drive.

If it is in an older light weight car you will always have your foot in the gas and a huge smile on your face.

What leads you to believe that this is not a numbers matching car? Do you have a COA or are you expecting to see identical numbers on the engine and VIN? (because that will never happen)

The car is a '75 US-Spec 'S', it's non-matching in a good way. Now it's just a matter of getting a fair price. Thanks again.

No, ~180 and CIS like the later SCs. The 210hp motors were 2.7 w/MFI and I think gone by '75.

non-matching numbers engine

Hello...curious if you are referring to a yellow '75 911 that was up for sale in Cincinnati, Ohio via ebay about 5 or so years ago? If so, I bought that car and it is sitting my garage awaiting restoration. The engine serial number is 6670691 and from quick research I did, I came up with the following:

1977 Euro
bore - 95mm
stroke - 70.4mm
hp - 200hp (DIN), 197 (SAE) @ 6,000 RPM
Max RPM - 7,000 (redline)

The car is a fairly straight non-sunroof coupe 911S with only a little rust in the frt fenders. The car has changed owners four times and has had three color changes, but no accidents. I noticed the 3.0 liter motor when it was advertised and just happened to be in the area...long story short, I made a quick trip down to see the car and pulled the numbers off the engine, researched them that night and bought the car with the intention of building a euro spec Carrera 3.0 clone.

Thanks
-T

Cool!
Would be nice to see some photos of the restoration/modifications as you move along.
Congrats,
