waste of $%&ing time
The kid must have deleted the tread. Only the tread starter can do that. What a waste of time. I wouldn't dought if he never owned the car and was only a perspective buyer. Why else would he just carry on about other things and not follow the steps that we gave him.
Kurt

Here check out this tread on the 944 board. He asks if he should buy a 944 or a vette. And he`s only 16 years old. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=363870#post363870

That thread was getting frustrating. I think that Kurt hit the nail on the head, he never owned the car.

Why are you calling me a lier? 800 views for a question help with 911 engine problem? Thats getting kind of old. Besides you helped me out, I saved what I needed and deleted it because It was getting too old & off topic. I said thank you, what more do you want?

pjv911: I don't know what your problem is. I EVEN SHOWED YOU A PICTURE OF THE CAR. HOW CAN YOU NOT BELIEVE I HAVE ONE? WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?
As for the 944, you told me on the engine problems thread that the 911 wouldn't be a great daily driver (just one of the few off topic subjects) so I'm looking into the 944. You wouldn't believe how much help I received from the thread and e-mails from people visiting the thread. I'm sorry if you got too emotionally attached. So It's bye bye ![]() -Andrew Last edited by Porsche911T; 01-03-2003 at 02:13 PM.. |

I have a problem with 15-year old kids posting here claiming that they are 16, and claiming that they 'own' or bought a car when ... 1) State laws prohibit such ownership, and, 2) They aren't even old enough to have a valid drivers license! 3) Banks don't issue credit cards to 15-year olds, unless fraudulently obtained ... so how can they 'order' anything over the Internet?
This smacks of the case of the 13-year old auctioning $1 Million worth of art a couple of years ago ... on eBay! Chalk up another one for the IGNORE LIST!

Adam im sorry if your offended by our posts. You seem like a nice kid with an inquisitive mind and a solid interest in porsche cars. When you get it together let us know we would love to hear about it.

So it's true 911s are rare in the tri-state? I have been getting 15 offers just at people driving by my uncles garage and theres no for sale sign on the 911. Funny thing is, one guy wants the body because he has an engine, and I want the engine because I have a body. I'm not offended by anything, I just stand up for myself.

![]() ![]() Also, part of what makes this board great is the archives. There are 17,000 topics, going back to February of 1998. Pretty much whenever I have a problem with my car, I can search the archives and find one or 2 threads on the subject. That is a huge amount of information, and an outstanding resource (big thanks Wayne). If you delete your post when you have the answer that information is lost (and no offence to your uncle, but I don't think you have the answer yet). Quote:

Hello
My point is that it is a bit unsocial/egoistic to have many people ask for help and then delete there work plus the possibility for other people to find it in the archives. If you edit your own contributions it looks a bit a other way. Grüsse |

The engine needs a rebuilt. I chose to delete the thread because I got too many emails. I got hotmail so everyday I spend a couple HOURS reading emails plus, hotmail keeps saying my account is too big. As for edited posts, I don't change them, I add to them so I try to not post sevral times in a row. Thats only if its the last post.

I agree, it sounds like you have an inquisitive mind and a good taste in cars despite your relatively young age.
The guys on this board understandably get a little defensive when they freely offer advice and then something 'suspicious' like deleting a thread comes up. Like any public BBS, this one has a few cranks, so people are kinda wary now. But top marks to you. You are embarking on a very interesting rebuild, of which we are all very keen to hear about! Don't even begin to imagine you understand the 911 engine yet. Why do you think we all come here most days to learn and share knowledge? Because there is ALWAYS more to learn. Keeping threads alive is a good way to accomplish this. Don't be alarmed at the number of views you get. I admit I was startled when Wayne changed the format recently so we could see this info, but I figure what the heck. If people want to read this stuff good on them. When you get 1000 views for a thread titled "What food do you eat before driving your 911?" (my absolute all time favourite), then you should be worried. Best of luck in your rebuild ![]()

Oh, one more thing. Off topic things in 'your' post are a fact of life here. Think of it as a discussion. There's always going to be someone (ie, all of us) who will chime in with something vaguely connected or totally disconnected to the original topic. This is how threads evolve as you stumble onto something else that may be useful to know.
Like the man says, read the "glad to have a V8" thread for a decent slice of Pelican life. It reads like a technical soap opera.
