17" fuchs

I have a set of 6 and 7 x16's doner fuchs. I'm trying to figure out what the specifications should be for an 82 911sc. My initial thinking is to go for 7.5" for the fronts and 9"s in the rear. I dont want to increase my ride height or move oil lines. For those that have 17"s, what are the offset specifications? What would you recommend? Also, can you provide pictures?

Gary Stratton built me a custom set of three piece rims for my 1983sc>RS Clone>which are "very" lite weight 14.3. He used Fuch Centers and BBS Hoops to my SC specs. I had a set of Rota (RSR version) which were fine (heavy), but just did look right to me. (see my garage) My new rims are: 7.5"x17" in the front>205/45/17" and 9"x17" in the rear>245/40/17?

agrimmitt, nice fuchs! So what offsets did you go with for fronts and rears. Also, is 145 the widest you can go on the rears?

You really need a 28-30 front offset to get the front wheel a little further in and away from the lip - (951 8" fuchs are a 23.3) of course camber settings and height will play a big part too.

on the rear - you need to be at 8-10 ET -

On my old 1987 Cabriolet - that was a little higher than euro ride height I stuffed a set of 235 and 275 tires - had to grind the spring plate bolts a little bit - but they did fit - and I did a few track days with them (Toyo RA1 tires)

But really - your wheel builder will be able to give you more specific info - Bill Verburg can help you or Jeff Alton or Gary Stratton - or Jim Lyon at True Design.

I have True Design 9.5 X 17 Fuchs with 275 / 40 / 17 Yoko tires and had to grind the spring plate bolt a little but they fit nicely. I have 7 X 16 Fuchs in the front with 225 / 50 / 16 Yokos but they rub the lip a little. I'll either roll the lip or have 17's made from a donor set of 6s. The True Design wheels are very nice on the eyes.

for the front 8" ET25-31 can be made to work. It's a trade off, the lower the o/s the less room at the lip, the higher the less room inside. admittedly interference inboard presents less of a problem than interference at the lips.

even the 951 8" ET23.3 have been made to work though w/ more compromises than w/ higher ETs

in back
8" ET~7-11 works, 9" ET~12-15 and 9.5" ET19, the wider the wheel and tire the less latitude in ET will work

Yes yes - the 9 x 17's I have are around an et17 - I was thinking of the 11x17's that I have - stock SC suspension, but with flares that have a -8 ET...
