Oxygen sensor - extra connector?
'86 Carrera: I was troubleshooting why my license plate lights aren't working (a whole other puzzling matter...) and noticed that there are TWO 3-wire connectors in the engine compartment that the oxygen sensor can plug in to.
One connector is located under the fuel pump and comes from the front of the engine compartment (gray harness). The other connector comes out of the wiring harness underneath the engine compartment fuse/relay panel, and is wrapped in electrical tape. What is this connector? A/C maybe? I'm puzzled... Thx! JB

The other one is the head temp sensor as I remember. That is pretty important!

The CHT sensor IS important, but that's not it. That sensor has a square connector that plugs into the bracket by the left intake. The 02 sensor has a round three-pin connector, and it's this connector that can go into one of two connectors I located.
Thx! JB

The connector out of the fuse/relay compartment, may be your rear window de-fogger connector. As I recall, one of the pins is not used. Pin #1 not used. Pin #2 is the first stage defogging. (center element). Pin #3 is the second stage defogging (upper and lower elements). Good luck, Gerry ![]()

Ah... that makes sense as to why it is not connected to anything - I have a cab! Thx!

I'm not following the comments, so I'll just post some pictures.

Thx Rusnak - mine looks quite different than that picture - I think it's all conglomerated into one circular 3-wire connector. And 86 - correct - I do not have a relay there...
