front end shaking
My steering wheel shakes getting worse as you go faster starting at 50 mph up to 65 mph. After that it just stops shaking and is very steady. Just had my front wheels balanced to try curing this. Didn't work. Any ideas?

Just like the last guy that asked...prolly flat spots from hard braking. Ask me how I know....

I'm the "last guy"!
And I had lowered my front end for a while wihout adjusting the camber (is there anything I can't f up?), and this caused severe wear just on the inside 2" of the fronts...I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of the problem as well...time for new tires. probably 90% of front end vibration is tire balance. just because one guy says they're balanced, doesn't mean that they are. balance machines can be wierd. you can balance a tire, take it off the machine, remount it back on the machine, and it will tell you to put the weights somewhere else.

I can believe that about balancing machines being wierd. I have had fits with the 31x10.5s on my truck. They have to be rebalanced about every 2 - 3k miles. One possible solution is a device called a bubble balancer. My father was describing one to me that he used to do race tires back in the fifties. I'll post a description of the machine when I can get it out of him (or get one myself), but he said that he used it for road tires and only had one car come back needing rebalancing (these were regular customers so he would know if their was a problem)

Remember my posts about a shaking steering wheel.... Still haven't cured it. But I think my shock absorbers are at least part of the reason.
First have all your wheels balanced. Then have a fourwheel alignment carried out. That's the basic things to start with. If it still shakes after that....welcome to my world
