Another Console Removal Problem

OK, so I have searched the forums and followed 101 Projects and Chilton's but I'm still stumped. I got everything out except the top shelf that holds the AC switch, fader, and temp selector. I can't remove that shelf or the wiring inside of it.

The shelf is held on by these two little white rivets that connect it to the main console. Couldn't find any mention of these little buggers in Chilton's, and I can't remove them any ideas?

Oh yeah, '86 Carrera.

And a rainy Norcal thanks!

I think when you pull the inner from the outer half there are screws that hold it in on the top

Yes...exactly, there are screws holding that shelf up. So remove the tan cover and voila.

when you get it apart, take a picture of what holds the shelf plate inplace. Mine is loose and the tabs and the switches kind of keep the shelf inplace. i might be missing something.

Thanks Danny
