Difference in 3.0 and 3.2 SSI's
Bolt pattern is the same, there is no sleeves on the 3.2's, they both fit, there both thick flange. So what? What makes them different and are they interchangeable?

So, why the different part numbers?

Scott, they fit perfectly because theyre not the right part. The specific for the 3.6 unit is thick flange no recess. The 3.2 should fit only a 3.2 shouldnt be able to fit a 3.0.

I thought that as well, and went round and round with this when I bought them. The 80-83 SC head can take those sleeves, and the fit on the 3.2l heads as well. I can't speak for the earlier SC's but this was the case on mine. The part numbers on my SSI's are definitely the 3.2 SSI part numbers, I verified that though SSI in case I had to sell them.
