need help getting busted ring out of case
I just got my 2.7 apart to rebuild the top end due to the fact that I found out I had no compression on #1 cyl. Upon taking the cylinder's off I found out that the ring's on #1 were all missing. And guess where they ended up in my case. Now I have rebuilt the top end of my 2.2 and feel very comfortable doing it, but I don't want to split the case at this time. Now for the question.
1) Any way to get all the pieces of the rings without splitting the case. 2) if I have to split the case, how hard is it? thanks |

busted rings
If you have busted rings you would be smart to tear it all the way down. Bottom end is easier then the top end. good luck.. I got ndone doing mine runs great now..Matt

It seems odd that the rings ended up inside the case. That means they had to have passed by the two or three thou of piston to cylinder clearance. I would expect the cylinder/piston to look pretty ugly?
Just my .03 cents (inflation) Chris |
