Carpet Glue: on carpet, AND on inside car?

When installing new carpet, should one spray the 3M 74 FoamFast Orange:

-on the back of the new carpet, only?
-on the back of the new carpet, AND the body panels?
-on the body panels only?

Thanks!

I am not familiar with that 3M product, but most are contact adhesives. You spray the adhesive on both components, let it tack up, then press them together to bond.

Have you, by chance, read the instructions? It's kinda fun to throw answers out there but in the end, you have to live with the results.

Before you use a spray glue. make sure it is rated for the temps you'll likely experience in the car. 3M makes an endless array of glues, not all of which will work. I'm not familiar with that one.

I have read the instructions, thank you, sir.

By and large, users here possess specific product application experience that no generic "back of bottle" instructions can match. I've leveraged the search function on this site, and not seen this issue addressed.

As to "throwing out answers", I hope you don't do that, but I'll look out for it- thanks. Whenever I post, I do so in an attempt to add to our cumulative knowledge. I typically post pics of my experiences, trials and errors, so that others can benefit.
Cheers.

In case you haven't yet already I would strongly suggest that you read this post from Nineball. He has done exactly what you are going through now with the interior of his car and has shared his experience on this forum. Great info with trial an error with the 3M products.
Good reading!!!

spray both sides, wait at least 1 min but not more than 3 mins before laying down the carpeting. you should be able to lay and remove it once or twice (if needed do so quickly) without problems.

i can't stress enough how important it is to lay out the next 2 or 3 pieces before you glue anything down. our carpets overlap all over the place.

no, the foam fast is what should be used for interior carpeting. strength is not the only factor as heat plays a role here too.
