Re-curving a stock 80sc distributor

Just wanted to inquire about this upgrade. I have a stock 80sc with SSI two in one out. Anyone care to offer their opinion? I have read that it is very worthwhile due to the change in octane in our present fuel. Did you notice a change in the powerband, power ect? Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Happy new year.

Thanks James I will contact one of those Gentlemen in the future but before I change mine I was hoping to hear thoughts from people that have altered their distributors.

Regards-

I have a 83SC with PMO carbs and a 75 914GT clone with a 78 SC engine and Weber carbs. On both engines I had the distributors recurved but that was mainly because I went to carbs on both engines. Both cars run great and I have stock internals on both. Barry Hershon did the forst one and Jerry Woods the second. Both were aprox. $500.00 for a complete cleaning and rebuild/recurve. Happy with both.

Well, the above mentioned Barry Hershon(313-532-5350) did mine about a month ago. It's in a stock 83 SC,with just an M&K 1/1. Mine needed a full rebuild, so it got the full treatment. He converted it to strictly mechanical advance. It's @ full advance by 3500 and throttle response is awesome. Much cheaper than carbs too. With your setup, you'll be get perm-a-grin..
Barry's turn around is quick and he's an old school craftsmen and total pro. From what I've read here, the other gentlemen mentioned, their reputations are stellar as well.
Distributors seem to be an often overlooked source of performance, from what i've learned recently.
