Newbie Airbox Help

Hi- I am new to Porsches and new to this forum. I have a simple , I think, question. The right side of the airbox has a fitting for a rubber line that has no line on it. Forward of the oil tank in the right rear fender there is what appears to be a carbon canister with an open fitting as well. Am I right in assuming there should be a rubber hose between the two, and, if so, Does anyone know the diameter hose that I need?

I believe the one on the right is a dead fitting (try looking through or sticking a bolt through it), not sure what one is on the left.

Here are a few pictures. I see that you are right, the fitting on the airbox has a plug in it. This makes the one on the canister more of a mystery to me....

Nothing goes in that airbox hole. There is a factory rubber plug for it you can order from our host but most of those holes are sealed already.

Thanks for the replies- but what about the one on the canister behind the oil tank? I tried to show it in photos 1,2, and 4.

If you have the SC Service Manual by Bentley, it is illustrated on page 200-10. If you don't, I'll try to describe the cannister's hoses connections. At the rear side, there is a single big hose connection. The hose goes back around the rear side of the engine and around the leftside ending at the fiberglas engine shroud where a metal nipple is located. At the otherside of the canister, there are two (2) nipples. The larger one (with hose installed) goes to the air box (driverside). Then the small nipple (for smaller rubber hose) goes to the front of the car to the expansion tank (not fuel tank). Let us know if you need pictures to help you with this work.

Tony- Thanks for your help. The hose missing is the single one coming off the back (towards the oil filler) side. I looked for the other end, but can't see any hose that is loose from its connection. Please post a picture or diagram if you have one, I haven't gotten the Bentley yet.

I know this is an old post but i just found today that the thick hose going from the airbox to the rear of the carbon cannister had come off. Tried to put it back on the cannister but its still quite loose and im sure there would be an air leak at the connection point. Will this cause issues?

The plug mentioned above is for the thick tube i assume at the airbox end? If you do this do you have to plug the rear of the cannister?
