Default Color Code for Paint to Order Cars?
Just curious if a 1981 911SC would have had a default paint code plate or sticker applied to it, if the customer ordered it originally with a custom paint color? I'm thinking nothing was applied to the car, but none of my books go into this subject.

I have a Petrol Blue carrera that was a special order for 1984. There was no code sticker under the hood or by the front right wheel well in the trunk, but there was a copy of the code sticker in the front of the maintenance manual.
Paint code was 999 which I've been told is standard for special order colors, at least in that vintage. Hope that helps. |

I'm not really familiar with the 1980's cars, however in a lot of cases the paint code will be on the badge or the decal (depending on the year) but it will be an odd code that is not listed for that model year. Doing research on these codes is difficult.
