Every Targa i see is on a beach or in LA or in AZ or Texas/Florida. Coupe's are seen on racetracks, at Daytona, at Infinon, at Nurburgering, at Spa, get it......Not that there better or worse. Just a different car than a race car. Thats all.

You'll be seeing my 81 targa on infineon, laguna and thunderhill this upcoming year during the hpde sessions.. All of them.. 1/2, 3, and 4.

I'm sure I'll be able to hold my own.

You made your decision, just enjoy the cayman, they are great cars. There are valid arguments for buying the cayman as there are valid arguments for owning an older targa. Second guessing will only diminish your pleasure. Five years or ten years from now if you want to go in a different direction, there will be plenty of great targa's available. You can just look on this board to find it.

If I was building a race car, sure, it would be a coupe-no brainer. But, since it spends more time on the road, although it had graced several tracks under my watch, I love the Targa. Totally different feel than my Coupe, which is much more civilized.
