Question H5 Mounting Question

Question in three parts. Apologies for the length, any help/ideas appreciated.

Decided to take off my headlights. Bored I guess. I notice that the left one is not very secure, upon further examination, I see that two of the four flanges that attach the bracket to the fender bucket are missing in action. See photo #1 below:

In comparison, this is the other side of the same headlight assembly:

The left side headlight has all four mounts intact. Since it's not an original bulb, I'm presuming that a gorilla attempted to remove or tighten the mount, they broke them - anyone else discover this problem? (No, there is zero evidence of any body damage anywhere on the car)

I looked on Pelican online catalog, and don't see just the mounting assembly - is this part available or do I have to buy the whole kit and kaboodle? I guess going to one of the used parts guys is an option.

Part 2: In the bottom of the headlight bucket in the fender are two holes. Pic below:

I see in the Pelican Catalog they sell a drain tube - in which of these two holes do they go (#1 or #2); and what goes in the other hole?

Part 3: I thought about cleaning the inside of the lenses. How do you get it off the reflector?

Thanks guys!

Don

Sorry - let me rephrase question 2. I looked in the LH bucket, and there is a bolt/washer in the rear of the two holes. It's clearly mising from the RH bucket, BUT, the threads are under the front hole.

Is this because of the oil cooler mount or something? My sense of symmetry wonders.

Thanks again,

Don

I think you will have to purchase an entire head light assembly either from a salvage yard or new from various parts suppliers. It appears the mounting flange has been broken-off. The lense is silicone glued to the reflector and should not be removed. To clean the lense you have to remove the bulb assembly and then fashion a swab, sort of a large Q-tip, I used a piece of old T-shirt wrapped around a 3/8" wood dowel, then apply a good glass cleaner that will leave no residue, then pass thru the bulb opening, swab the back of the lense. It is tedious, but be careful, with patience you can even get the reflector clean, it's finish is delicate and can be scratched easily so don't push too hard.

Don - You got some serious time on your hands! Its a nice day out, you should be out buzzing Ortega Highway, or down in Laguna!

(I'm wrestling with the sprinkler system today)

Thanks Jens. Then how come it has threads in it, and the other one does not? As I mentioned in the second post, on the other side there is a bolt in one of the two holes...
